De Las Lagrimas de Un Nino
Por J.Hiades Galan
(With an English translation by HW staff.)
Las lagrimas
Tambien manchan
La piel negra;
Como esas lagrimas
Que brotan
De los ojos de ese nino
Negro,
Que como gotas acristaladas
De nitida transparencia,
De infinito amargor,
Recorren su cara
Toda,
Galopando por los carrillos
De esa inocencia
Sana,
Magna obra
Del Creador!!!
-Porque lloras?
Le pregunto
-De hambre, Senor- me dice-
-De hambre?,
Como es eso?
-El hombre blanco
Me hace pasar hambre.
-Y tus padres,
Porque no te alimentan?
-Porque el hombre blanco
Los mate de hambre
Y enfermedad.
-El hombre blanco,
Porque?
-Porque es quien tiene
El dinero,
Porque es quien tiene
El alimento,
Lo tiene todo
Y tiene a mi Pueblo
De esclavo;
Porque se cree dueno
De todos
Y nosotros
No tenemos de nada.
-Pero?, eso no es asi,
Cada cual tiene
Lo que tiene
Y compra lo que puede.
-No Senor, no;
Mi Papa
Me ensenaba mucho
Y el me decia
Que el hombre blanco
Habla saqueado
Y robado
A mi Pueblo
Todo cuanto tenia
Y por eso ellos
Tienen de todo
Y nosotros no tenemos
De nada.
-Pero eso no es cierto,
Nosotros os ayudamos
Y os prestamos.
-Mi Papa me decia
Que las riquezas que tiene
El hombre blanco
Son las que nos robaron
Y nos roban;
Y que nos prestan
De lo robado
Y que no nos ayudais
Nada mas que por interes;
Que no os importa
Nuestras vidas;
Solo os importa aumentar
Vuestras riquezas.
-Pero bueno,
Tu sabes que yo
No soy asi;
Yo soy tu amigo,
Sera mejor, verdad?
-Senor,
Usted es blanco

For the Tears Of a Child
Tears also stain
Black skin;
Like these tears
That flow
From the eyes of this
Black child,
That like crystalline drops
Of pure transparency,
Of infinite bitterness,
Traversing his whole face,
Flowing over the cheeks
Of this healthy innocence.
The Supreme Work
Of the Creator!!!
“Why do you cry?”
I asked him.
“From hunger, Sir,” he said.
“From hunger?
How is this so?”
“The white man
Has made me hungry.”
“And your parents,
Why do they not feed you?”
“Because the white man
Killed them with hunger
And sickness.”
“The white man?
Why?”
“Because it is he who has
The money,
Because it is he who has
The food.
He has it all,
And he has my People
As slaves;
Because he believes himself the master
Of everything,
And we do not have anything.”
“But this is not so,
Each has what he has
And buys what he is able to.”
“No, Sir, no;
My dad taught me much,
And he told me
That the white man
Has plundered
And robbed,
My People
Of everything they had,
And because of this
We do not have anything.”
“Surely this is not so,
We are helping you,
And we are lending you a hand.”
“My papa told me
The riches that
The white man has
Are those that they robbed from us;
They rob us
And then make loans to us
From what they have robbed,
And that you assist us
Only for you hope to gain;
That our lives are not important to you,
They have importance only to increase
Your riches.”
“OK, but
You know that
I am not like that;
I am your friend,
I will be better, right?”
“Sir,
You are white.”
